Ruth Ellen Mcglothin

Ruth Ellen McGlothin, 86, of Shawnee, formerly of McLoud and Harrah, passed Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Regency Health Care of Shawnee. Ruth was born January 4, 1938, in Jones, to Arthur and Mary Edna (McCoy) Taylor. She was reared and educated in Jones and Choctaw. She married Walter “Ray” McGlothin on March 10, 1955, in Shawnee. Ruth worked for a brief time in the cafeteria of the McLoud Schools but spent most of her adult life as a homemaker seeing to the needs of her husband and children, and later many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was a “Garage Sale Queen”. She loved to go to garage sales to find bargains for her family, a tradition that never stopped. Ruth was a positive role model for her family, but she was also known to be quite the “tease”, pranking her family with her wit and ability to scare the daylights out of them. She also enjoyed hunting mushrooms and going fishing. She was an excellent baker, always making each person their favorite pie on special occasions. Her favorite job was that of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to hold the babies and rock them all day long. Ruth was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witness in McLoud.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter, a son Michael, and all her siblings.

Those left to honor her memory and mourn her loss include her children, daughter Vicky and husband Roger Frost of Harrah, daughter Jackie Kelley of Seminole; son Tim and wife Sis McGlothin of McLoud, son Carl and wife Tracy of Jacktown; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The casket will be open 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday so friends may pay their respects.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Asa Smith Funeral Service. Burial will follow in the Ferrell Cemetery.
