Sharon Marguerite Ownbey Stroope, 73, of Choctaw passed from this life to her rewards in Heaven on September 21, 2021 at her home. She was born to HC and Marguerite Manley Ownbey on September 24, 1947 in Oklahoma City. She grew up in Midwest City, attending Soldier Creek Elementary School, Monroney Junior High and Carl Albert High School. She attended Central State University for one year. She and Benny Stroope were married September 3, 1966 at Crest Baptist Church in Midwest City and celebrated 55 years together. She went to work at Tinker Air Force Base at age 17 until Christie was born, then became a stay-at-home mom. Sharon then went to work for Mid-Del Schools as a management assistant and retired in 2005. Sharon was a skilled pianist and played for Trinity Bible Baptist Church and other churches when needed. She loved people and was a hugger. Sharon also loved to fish and water ski at Lake Texoma. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting. She was preceded in death by her parents HC and Marguerite Ownbey and a sister, Marilyn Diane Magee Brown. Survivors include her husband Benny of the home; a daughter Christie Rickey of Choctaw; a son Michael Stroope of Choctaw and a grandson Preston Stroope of Choctaw and a host of family and friends. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Dale Cemetery under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah. Visitation at the funeral home will be 8 a.m. to 8 pm. Friday, September 24, 2021 with the family present from 6 to 8 pm.
