Sherri Rene’ (Smith) Straka 65, of Harrah, OK passed away peacefully at OU Medical Center on Sunday, January 14, 2024, following a brief battle with liver cancer. She was born to Al Smith and JoAnn Weaver Smith on November 12, 1958, a twin sister to Terri. Sherri graduated from McLoud High School in 1978. Sherri was a teacher’s aide at McLoud Elementary Schools for 18 years. After her retirement from the school, she was employed at the McLoud Texaco Deli where she served the best baked potatoes ever. Whatever Sherri served turned into deliciousness.
Sherri never met a stranger and those who knew her understood she would give you her last dime or the shirt off her back if you needed it. She was a giver and always took care of others. She was the first one there and the last to leave, making sure everything was cleaned up and put away. Everyone who was lucky enough to enjoy Sherri’s cooking always wanted more.
She lent a hand in helping raise many kids. Her daughters Brandi and Season were involved in 4-H, FFA and athletics. Sherri supported the girls in all their school and college activities. Many meals and snacks were served out of Sherri’s kitchen to her friends and family. She loved her family to the moon and back.
Sherri joins her parents Florent Fred Kubiak and JoAnn Kubiak, her sisters Judy Smith Arthur and Carla Kubiak Colwell, her mother and father-in-law, Coletta and Doyle Straka in heaven.
