Shirley Ann Reise

August 28, 1938 — December 19, 2019

Shirley Ann (Brantley) Reise, 81, beloved mother and dear friend to all, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2019 at Gregston's Nursing and Rehab in Marlow, Oklahoma. Shirley's story began on August 28, 1938, the middle child to Melvin Harold Brantley and Vivian Marie Seymour Brantley. She was born in Sterling, Oklahoma on a dairy farm where they worked hard everyday milking Jersey cows and picking cotton, all by hand until she was sick of cotton and still bragged that her hands were strong in her old age due to all the milking of cows in her childhood. She moved to Midwest City in her early 20's after getting her Associates from Cameron University. She went to work at Tinker Air Force Base and enjoyed working as a receptionist for the General, where a man by the name of Jack Arthur Reise walked past her desk multiple times. They began courting then were married on February 19, 1966 and enjoyed 47 years together. Shirley was a fine Christian woman, doing the Lord's work every day. She hummed and sang gospel hymns from morning to night. She was an impactful Bible Class teacher to many children. Shirley was a faithful member of Eastside Church of Christ in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Shirley was also a fine seamstress. She loved to sew all kinds of beautiful garments, including all of Kristi's childhood clothes. Losing Shirley brings great sorrow to our family, but in the sorrow, we are also rejoicing with her knowing she is in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Shirley is loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Survivors include daughter Kristi Reise of Midwest City, OK; brother Don (Evelyn) Brantley of Sterling, OK; brother Larry (Annys) Brantley of Rush Springs, OK; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Kristi would also like to specifically mention Lynn and Lillian May, Jack and Shirley's dear friends and neighbors for over 45 years. She would like to thank her companion, Scott Bugher, for all his love and support. Lastly, she cannot forget the incredible care and devotion that was given by the staff of Kindful Hospice and Gregston's Nursing and Rehab. A Public Viewing will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, 22nd of December, 2019 at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, Oklahoma. The Funeral Service honoring her life will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 23, 2019, at Eastside Church of Christ, Midwest City, Oklahoma with Dale Hartman officiating and will be under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah, Oklahoma.
