STEHEN JOSEPH CHICOINE

Stephen Joseph Chicoine, 34, of Choctaw, passed from this life on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Stephen was born February 28, 1989, in Midwest City, OK to Thomas and Rita (Park) Chicoine. He was raised and educated in Ponca City, where the family attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Church, Kindergarten at the Marland Mansion and, later, Roosevelt Elementary.

The family moved to Oklahoma City, where the family was members of the St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, and Stephen attended middle school at St. Phillip Neri Catholic School. He then attended Mount St. Mary’s Catholic School in Oklahoma City, for two years.

The family moved to Long Beach, CA, where he attended Millikan High School. After playing soccer since he was four, he played for the number one high school soccer team in the country while in Long Beach. The family attended St. Corneilus Catholic Church in Long Beach. The family returned to Oklahoma City and the St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church; Stephen graduated from Midwest City High School in 2007.

After graduation, Stephen, enlisted in the United States Army National Guard, serving in Afghanistan and Ukraine, receiving many commendations for his service. He was honorably discharged in 2019. Stephen has worked a few different jobs, and attended Oklahoma City Community College, but mostly enjoyed traveling about the country and enjoyed camping, hiking, riding BMX trails, and playing golf everywhere he went.

He was very passionate about his faith and enjoyed time spent in church and the angelic choir. Stephen had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and loved to bring laughter to others, whether it was his wit or his ability to do “Beat box” music with a comedic style. He was very deep, passionate, and appreciated words of affirmation.

Survivors include his mother Rita Yates of Oklahoma City, father Tom and wife Nikkie Chicoine of Choctaw; brothers Jacob, Luke, and Ethan Chicoine and Glen Collier, and sisters Shannon Anderson and Lily Chicoine; grandfather Joseph Chicoine of Choctaw and many aunts, uncles cousins and friends.

Friends may pay their respects at the Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024, at the Asa Smith Memorial Chapel. Cremation will follow. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
