Suzanne "Suzy" Lea (Monroe) Richardson, 62, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at her home in Newalla, Oklahoma.
Suzy was born on Monday, January 16, 1961, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Knox and Irene (Martin) Monroe. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Del City, Oklahoma from Fort Smith. Suzy graduated from Del City High School in 1979. On September 2, 1994, Suzy married Dorsey Richardson in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Together they had one child, Cody.
Shortly after high school, Suzy started her career working for Gary Marr as a Veterinary Technician. Suzy worked for Gary Marr for 25 years while simultaneously working as a Production Controller for Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.
Working as a Vet Tech refined Suzy's love for all animals. She was a huge horse enthusiast. Most importantly, Suzy loved her family. She immensely loved her mom, Irene. She enjoyed spending time with Cody - they did everything together, and her granddaughter, Melody. Suzy and Melody did everything together as well. They liked to play "airplane", play dress up, do their hair and makeup together, as well as share a unique bond in their love for animals.
Suzy was preceded in death by her parents, Knox and Irene Monroe, and a sister, Barbara Stringer.
Those left to cherish Suzy's memory are her husband of husband of 28 years, Dorsey Richardson of Newalla, Ok; her son, Cody Richardson and his fiancé, Kaylea Harvey of Del City, Ok; beloved 8 year old granddaughter, Melody Richardson; brothers, Danny Monroe and his wife, Kathleen of Choctaw, Ok, and Larry Monroe of Harvey, Arkansas; niece, Jimmie Monroe and her husband, Cory of Harrah, Ok, niece, Kelly Mullican of Shawnee, Ok, nephew, Mark Stringer of Fort Smith, Arkansas, niece, Regina Garcia of Houston, Texas; Paul Wiggins of Gravelly, Ar. who was like a brother to Suzy; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
A memorial service to honor Suzy's life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 4, 2022, at Asa Smith Memorial Chapel, Harrah, Oklahoma. Condolences can be expressed at www.asasmith.net. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations made to the animal rescue of their choice. Services are in the care of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah, Ok
