Terry Gay (Leach) Nickell

December 22, 1958 — June 3, 2021

Terry Gay (Leach) Nickell, 62, joined her Lord and Saviour in the early morning hours of June 3, 2021. Terry passed away peacefully in her own home after battling health issues for many months. Terry was born to J.D. and Peggy Leach on December 22, 1958 in Hobbs, New Mexico. Terry was the first daughter but second in age behind her brother, Tim. Terry's younger sister Tonya was born a few years later, followed by the youngest brother Joe. Terry was close to her siblings and always referred to her childhood as some of her most cherished memories. Terry attended Holdenville Public Schools. When Terry was 18 years old, she married Larry Lynn Murray and went on to give birth to a son, Jarrod, and a daughter, Andrea . Later in life, Terry married Carroll 'Tiny' Steele , and they were married for 26 years. While Terry held many jobs in her life, her most rewarding career was being a caretaker for the elderly. Terry was passionate about gardening, painting, and jewelry. She also loved fishing, shopping, attending garage sales, cooking, and reading. Terry was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend to so many, however, her most proud title was being a Meme to her 5 grandchildren, Megan, Cody, Jacie, Aubrey, and Jakeb. Terry is survived by her parents, JD and Peggy Leach, brothers Tim and Joe Leach, and a sister, Tonya Greenlee and husband Jay; a son, Jarrod Murray, and wife, Jenae; a daughter, Andrea Riggins; and her 5 grandchildren.
