Thomas Newton Hargus

Thomas Newton Hargus, 92, of Shawnee left this life for his Heavenly Home on December 25, 2018 in Oklahoma City. He was born August 22, 1926 to Dave Logan and Maggie Ollie Ozment Hargus in Romulus, OK. He drove a milk truck at age 14 in Shawnee. Tom had a Degree in Engineering and worked in the Right of Way Division of the State Department of Transportation. Tom raised chickens and was an expert on the subject. He was a simple man who loved his family, enjoyed Fox News, coached baseball and played minor league baseball in Canada. He loved to go bird hunting. He was a Marine Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He went to night school to obtain his Engineering Degree and worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and then as a consultant, designing turnpikes. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Melba; two brothers, Charlie and Pete Hargus; 3 sisters, Pauline Boepple, Delores Griffith and Velta Duval; and son in law Greg Baker. Survivors include two sons, Patrick and Deanna Hargus of Harrah and Mike Hargus of Oklahoma City; four daughters, Linda and Terry Gay of Midwest City; Nancy Loomis of Oklahoma City, Ann Baker of McLoud and Lisa Smith of Oklahoma City; brother, Ronnie Hargus of Maud; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Harrah United Methodist Church will interment to follow in Harrah Memory Lane Cemetery under direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service, Harrah.
