Vickie Marie Rickords

April 25, 1954 — January 21, 2025

Vickie Marie Rickords, 70, of Moore, Oklahoma, formerly of Arkansas City, KS and Wichita, KS, lost her courageous battle with cancer Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Norman, OK.

Vickie was born April 25, 1954, in Arkansas City, KS to Albert and Wanda (Clark) Rickords. She was raised and educated in Arkansas City, graduating in 1972 , then continued her education at Pittsburg State University, graduating in 1976 with a degree in nursing. Vickie worked as an RN at the local hospital in Pittsburg, KS, before moving to Wichita, KS. She did patient care at Wesley Medical Center and St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita before beginning a 38-year career with Davita, Inc. Starting as a nurse in a Wichita dialysis center, Vickie worked her way up to Director of Regulatory Affairs for the company. This position allowed her to experience her love of travel, and she made life-long friends with her close knit Davita work group, “Team SOS”. She wished to remain in Wichita so she could drive to Ark City on weekends to spend time with her mom, and they could often be seen eating a late breakfast at Brick’s. In 2013 Vickie moved to Moore, OK to be closer to family, continued her career with Davita, and helped care for her older brother, Bill.

Since Vickie enjoyed going places, she always looked forward to her annual “Girls Trip” with her sorority sisters of Alpha-Gamma-Delta from PSU. She also loved being an aunt and great-aunt to her many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews and delighted in traveling to their activities, especially dance competitions/performances and baseball games. Vickie enjoyed shopping and found joy in finding unique, special birthday and Christmas gifts for friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and older brother, William “Bill” Rickords.

Those left to mourn her loss yet cherish the many memories they made with her include her brother Bob and wife Pam Rickords of Lone Grove, OK; nieces Stacey and husband Greg Sprayberry of Oklahoma City; Teresa and husband Jim Holloway of Arkansas City; nephew Dr. Robert and wife Lauren Rickords of Haslett, TX and many great-nieces and nephews.

To honor Vickie, the family requests that memorial gifts be made in support of the OU Stephenson Cancer Center Research Fund online at Stephenson Cancer Center Donations. You may also donate by mailing a check made payable to OU Foundation/Gynecological Cancer Research to the address below and they will submit on your behalf and notify the family of memorial contributions:
