Wayne Allen Humphrey, 74, of Harrah, passed Saturday, December 23, 2023, at SSM – St. Anthony Hospital of Midwest City. Wayne was born May 7, 1949, to William and Frances (Goad) Humphrey in Oklahoma City. He was reared and educated in Wellston, graduating high school there in 1967. He married Carolyn Johnson in 1969. The couple had one child, and later divorced but remained very good friends. Wayne served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, he honorably discharged in 1976. He was a civilian Assembler and Tester at Tinker Air Force Base for over 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, and got hold his newest great-grandchild before his untimely passing on Saturday. Wayne was known as a very loving and helpful person and truly enjoyed helping his family, friends, and neighbors with anything that they might need. Wayne was an avid golfer and score two Hole-In-Ones. He loved to play locally and anywhere else that sounded like a fun place to play. He also enjoyed going deer hunting every year to provide deer meat for his daughter and granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and six brothers John, James, Ted, Michael, Robert and Herman.
Survivors include his daughter Lori and husband Patrick Dooty of Moore; siblings Warren “Rude” and wife Sue Humphrey of Wellston, Mary Payne of Wellston, and Ann Prince of Edmond; two granddaughters Meagan and husband Brandon Radford and Jessica Dooty; two great-grandchildren Caden and Maddox; Wayne’s ex-wife and dear friend Carolyn Hacker; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.
The casket will open Sunday 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Wellston First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Wellston Cemetery.
