WILLIAM A. HOEMANN
William Alan (Bill) Hoemann, 76, of Harrah, OK passed from this life at his home in Harrah on May 23, 2024. He was born in Stillwater, OK, on September 1, 1947, to Eugene Edwin and Mary Frances (Gard) Hoemann. His father was a Captain in the US Air Force. After serving in World War II, he was killed while training young pilots when Bill was just six years old.
His mother moved the family to Enid, OK, where Bill grew up and attended public schools. He graduated from Enid High School in 1965 and then attended Oklahoma State University, majoring in Electrical Engineering. Most of Bill’s jobs were in the Communications field. As a telephone engineer, he designed fiber optic cable plans for buried cable. Some of the companies he worked for included Guernsey Engineering, Digital Lightwave and AT&T. Bill often traveled while working.
Bill was a voracious reader and collected many books on history, religion and politics. He had eclectic taste in music and favored the blues and rock and roll. Bill played guitar for his enjoyment. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing tennis, riding dirt bikes and shooting. He loved his dogs and was a passionate soccer and basketball fan at his children’s sporting events, often too passionate and loud!
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
In 1980, Bill and Deborah Sue Gustofson were married in Nevada, Iowa, and they were married for 44 years. Bill is survived by his wife, Debbie; his sons, Matthew William Hoemann and Erich Nicholas Hoemann and daughter Meghan Diane Hoemann. Grandchildren include Alaysia Hoemann, Amara Hoemann, Alylah Hoemann, Robert Hartfield and Lucas Hoemann. He is also survived by his brother Robert Hoemann (Evelyn) his sister Janice Ernster (Joel) and niece and nephews plus their children.
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 21 at 2 p.m. at Asa Smith Funeral Service in Harrah. Online tributes and condolences may be posted on asasmith.net.
