William Leroy Sullivan

William Leroy Sullivan, 76, of McLoud, Oklahoma, left this world to be with his Heavenly Father Jesus Christ on February 8, 2024.

Bill, as he was well known, was born on April 27,1947, to his parents William L. Betz and Zora E. Sullivan in Coaldale Pennsylvania. Bill graduated Choctaw High School in 1965, he went on to study Music Education at Central State University in Edmond Ok.

After graduating University, he went on to teach Band in Minneola Kansas. He had a long and successful career as a band and vocal teacher, teaching at McLoud Schools and finally Luther Public Schools from which he retired in 2009. Bill was beloved by his many students through the years, and he was proud of what they all were able to accomplish through their many hours of hard work and practice. He was passionate about music and he passed on this passion to his students, many of whom went on to pursue music in college and as their own careers. Bill also had a successful heating and air business for many years.

Bill didn’t know a stranger. He was a very outgoing and happy man, who loved to make people smile. Bill enjoyed telling jokes, fishing, and music. He enjoyed traveling and often spoke of the trips that he and his wife Trena would take to Branson MO to see the musical shows. He was a member of multiple professional bands where he would play the keyboards, trumpet and saxophone. He enjoyed bringing happiness and enjoyment to people and played before multiple crowds at festivals, concerts and parties.

Bill was preceded by his mother and fathers. Mrs. Zora E. Sullivan and Herman E. Sullivan of Nicoma Park OK and William L. Betz of Tamaqua Pennsylvania and his beloved sister Virginia Bell of Harrah. He is survived by his wife Trena L. Sullivan of the home, his daughter Anita L. Sullivan, son William L. Sullivan Jr. and his two granddaughters Ashley Sullivan and Harmony Sullivan, his brother Barney D. Sullivan, and his sisters Betty A. Peery and Donita K. Sullivan as well as countless nieces and nephews and cousins, and close and dear friends.
